The Basler Dialect

Baseldytsch or Baslerdüütsch or Baseldeutsch is the dialect spoken here in Basel Stadt, and it is based on German, but it is pronounced quite differently, and of course it has it's own vocabulary also. There is also a phonetic writing for it. The Basler Dialect is used on Swiss TV in the region, in advertisements, in old and modern songs, and in newspapers.
