Gempen

The Gempenturm lies on 699m altitude. So from Basel it's a climb of 455m.

But it's worth every pedal turn. There is a nice terrace also, and the food is really good and not expensive. There is also a steel tower with "Aussicht", quite high. You need a coin of 1 CHF per person to open the automatic gate.

The sure advantage of going here, so far and so high, is that the way back is all going downhill again till in Basel.
