Dresscode - Working day
As a businessman I like o go to work well dressed, with a costume, our trousers and vest. Sometimes, but not always, also with a tie (depends on which meetings I have and with who). The problem is then a bit the weather.
Being prepared for a bit of rain
In the morning I can just look at the sky and decide to go by tram if the weather is not nice. In the evening at the office I consult the "Regenadar" for coming clouds and chances of rain. When it rains, I can work just a bit longer and get out and back to home when it's over.
I have a KW jack in my computerbag, but so far I did make very little use of it. In the period March till June I had only taken the tram on three occasions. It was a very dry period and the waterlevel of the river "Rhein" was very low.
Beng prepared for lots of rain
Of course there are ways to fully equip yourself with all kinds of clothes and overalls. But in my case the distance home-work is less than 2 km, and so far I did not need any more protection than what I have now. The short term weather forecast, and looking at the sky and spotting clouds and wind direction, and then making a good guess or gamble, is sufficient for me.
For those of you who are not in such a confortable situation, see the Swiss site VeloPlus for lots of Bike Clothing (they have also a shop in Basel). or if you are being paid in Euro's, see some German online webshops such as Rose-Versand and by things much cheaper there (exchange rate CHF-EUR is 1,14 at the time of writing this).
Dresscode - Weekends
For the weekend trips I mostly dress with half-long shorts (bermuda), and a shirt with short sleeves. This is quite minimal, but very appropriate for doing a bit of climbing in the surroundings of Basel. When weather is too cool, I have an extra sweater, or the KW which protects well agains some wind also.
